Skincare is a important element to everyone. Whether you have dry, oily or combination skin there is the 4 basics: cleanse, tone, moisturize, and exfoliate. There are many brands on the market that will suit your skin type. It is simply a matter of finding the product that responds well to your skin. In fact , some even label the product to the skin type. As stated in the last beauty tip article I recommend Oil of Olay for your skincare needs. Spending a fortune on skincare products is not always the way to go. If you have problems finding out your skin type there are websites that help you. Find out what skin type you have.
Now that winter is upon us skincare takes on different needs to keep your skin looking good. Here are some helpful tips that I found to keep your skin looking good during the cold days of winter by Web MD.
Tip #1 Seek a Doctor. An Esthetician or a Dermatologist can give you the best advice on what type of products to use for your skin type if nothing seems to work for you.
Tip#2 Moisturize A LOT. Summer and spring have probably been good with a particular brand of moisturizer but as the winter months fall it is recommended that you change your brand to one that has “ointment” quality to it. Pores tend to shrink during the winter thereby loosing essential skin oils. Choose your moisturizer carefully…ones that don’t clog the pores.
Tip #3 Use sunscreen. In the summer it is about the sun affecting the skin form harmful UV rays. In the winter, the glare of the sun from the snow can be just as bad. As stated in the last tip a SPF of 30 is recommended. Please also keep reapplying later in the day to keep your skin protected.
Tip #4 Moisturize your Hands. Your hands have a thinner layer skin and less oil glands than the rest of the body so they do need tending in the winter due to the cold.
Tip#5 Hook up the Humidifier. A humidifier will help bring moisture in air thereby giving your skin the needed replenishment for the winter months.
Tip#6 Avoid Wet Socks and Gloves. This can irritate and create problems to the skin. DON”T DO IT!
Tip #7 Lotion up the Feet In the summer the minty lotions are superb for the feet. In the winter, choose ones that have a petroleum base in it for better moisture.
Tip#8 Use Peals in Moderation. This is so your skin doesn’t feel uncomfortably dry. If it does, switch to products that will hydrate.
Tip#9 Ban super hot baths. Who can resist the hot tub after a day in the cold? Unfortunately, the heat causes the skin to lose moisture(i.e. pruned fingers) . It is recommended to have a lukewarm bath for a short duration to maintain the best moisture possible for the skin.
These tips will help you through the winter to keep your skin healthy and youthful. Happy Holidays Everyone!!!! Be healthy and beautiful this winter!
